Make Money with Affiliate Marketing – Using Social Bookmarking to Make Money Online

As an affiliate marketer, it’s important to use every possible strategy to get exposure to your affiliate links. Whether you own your own blog for the purpose of promoting affiliate programs and products or run a free blog, social bookmarks can help you earn more money.

How exactly can you use social bookmarking to make money online?

If you’re not familiar with social bookmarking sites, they’re basically a social community where you can “bookmark” your favorite sites. Other users can see your bookmarks and vote, comment and share them with others. As you can see already, these types of sites can be used to promote your own sites as well.

Social bookmark sites hold a lot of authority in the eyes of the search engines, especially Google. Utilizing these sites will help drive traffic to your blog, and specifically, blog posts.

To get started, you’ll want to sign up for as many bookmarking sites as possible. I recommend first signing up with Delicious and bookmarking sites, and then you can import those bookmarks into the other bookmarking sites.

Whenever you bookmark a blog post, or any web page, you include a title, description and tags/keywords. The benefit of doing this is that whenever you bookmark a page, the title you enter becomes the anchor text for the link that points back to the page. If you’ve been following my posts on backlink building, you’ll know that this has a lot of benefit for your search engine rankings.

Using this strategy and bookmarking your blog posts in which you want to get a lot of exposure will help create high quality backlinks for those posts, thus driving them higher in search engine results.

So, in terms of making money with affiliate marketing, if you wrote a blog post promoting a specific affiliate product or program, you want to get as many backlinks to that specific post as possible. The more backlinks you build, the higher that post will rank for your keywords. Eventually, sales will start coming in as your traffic increases.

I hope you can see the benefit of using social bookmarking as a method to make money online. As a word of caution, don’t simply bookmark all of your posts and pages; bookmark other sites that you find interesting as well. Keep a good balance as to not make your accounts look spammy.

Make Money with Affiliate Marketing – Marketing Your Main Blog Using Free Blogs

In my previous post about free blogs, I briefly mentioned that there’s a way to use free blogs to your advantage, other than using them as a main blog for your business.

Free blogs have a lot of power in that the search engines, especially Google, loves them. We can use sites like Blogger.com and Wordpress.com as a marketing tool to promote our affiliate offers and also our main business blog.

To get the most out of these sites, you’ll want to create unique content and post to them somewhat regularly. Within the blog posts, link back to your main blog. This will create quality backlinks to your main blog and help it rank higher in the search engines for your keyword phrases.

Online include one link to your blog in each blog post. You don’t want to overdue it as some of these sites can get picky about the kind of advertising you do as well as how much. Be sure to read each site’s Terms of Service to make sure you comply with all rules.

Other free blog sites you may want to check out include:

Blogr.com
Blogster.com
Bravenet.com
Flatpress.com
Klatcher.com
Lifetype.com
Livejournal.com
Moveabletype.com
Multiply.com
Serendipity.com
Textpattern.com
Xanga.com

After you post to these blogs, it wouldn’t hurt to social bookmark the blog home page and selective posts that you want to get exposure to. I’ll go into more detail about social bookmarking in my next post, so stay tuned.

Make Money with Affiliate Marketing – Make Money Using Free Blogs

If you’re just starting out in affiliate marketing, you probably don’t want to invest a lot of money into your new business, and you don’t have to. Essentially, affiliate marketing is free and doesn’t require any initial cost. It’s very possible to make money with affiliate marketing through the use of free blogs.

Free blogs such Blogger.com and Wordpress.com, just to name a couple, can be used to create a web presence where you can promote various products as an affiliate.

There are, however, pros and cons to this approach that I’ll discuss below.

Pros

The obvious pro to using free blogs is that they are in fact, free. They’re also very easy to setup and use. You can be up and running and blogging within minutes. At no point will it cost you anything to maintain and keep your blog going.

Cons

The cons to this approach, though, is that you don’t fully own your blog. With free blogs, you’re at the mercy of the blog provider, in this case Blogger.com and Wordpress.com. These two sites both have strict policies about advertising and promoting affiliate products, and they can shut your blog down at any time. That’s not a good thing for you when you’re trying to make money online and build a web presence.

Also, you don’t own the domain. Your blog is a subdomain and part of the Blogger.com or Wordpress.com domain. For example: http://yourblog.blogspot.com or http://yourblog.wordpress.com. For branding purposes, this doesn’t look very professional and will raise questions in the minds of potential customers.

With that being said, it’s very possible to make money online using free blogs. However, it’s not what you’re probably thinking, and I’ll get into this at a later time.

There’s a better approach if you want to setup a main blog from which you’ll brand yourself or your business, and I’ll be talking about this in my next post.

Make Money With Affiliate Marketing – Building Backlinks To Make Money Online

February 9, 2010 by Alan

My previous post was about Getting Exposure to Your Review Blog Posts, and I covered briefly about search engine optimization (SEO) and backlinks. In this post, I want to cover backlinks in more depth and provide you with the proper way to use and get them.

Just to recap, backlinks are links on other websites that link back to your website. Hence the reason they’re called backlinks. Backlinks are essential for driving your website up in search engine results. You want your website at the top of the results page whenever someone types in a specific keyword phrase. The higher your website ranks, the more traffic it will get, and the more sales you will generate.

So, let’s start with the proper use of backlinks. Backlinks are the most effective when they contain keywords. What keywords should backlinks contain? Backlinks that you’re building should contain the keywords/keyword phrase of the web page that it’s linking to. For example, if your web page’s keyword phrase is “best golf clubs” without quotes, then your backlinks should contain that keyword phrase exactly. The term used for this is called anchor text, so all backlinks you build should contain the anchor text for the pages you’re building links for.

I hope that makes sense to you. A great example of this would be the link I have at the beginning of this post. The link is a phrase, which links to my previous blog post. This is the exact same thing you want to do when creating your backlinks.

Moving on, I now want to cover the best way to get backlinks. Backlinks should be built slowly, around 5 – 10 a day. You would even be safe in building 50 in a day to the same web page, but don’t overdue it. Gradual and steady is the key. If you build a huge amount of backlinks within too short of a time, Google will get suspicious and think that you’re spamming, and this is definitely not a good thing.

Some different ways to go about building backlinks include article marketing, blog commenting, forum posting, writing guest blog posts, reciprocal linking with other related sites, social bookmarking, video marketing, etc. There are numerous ways to build quality backlinks, and remember you want to do it slowly over time.

Make Money With Affiliate Marketing – Beat Out The Competition By Gaining Trust

In my previous post I asked you the question; can you make money online with affiliate marketing? I explained that if you were going to making money that it required work and a consistent effort on your part. Another factor I included was that you would have to beat out your competition.

So, how do you go about beating out the competition?

When it comes to the internet and affiliate programs, competition is fierce due to the fact that affiliate marketing is easy, and signing up to various affiliate programs is free. Therefore, anyone and everyone can do it. Chances are you won’t be the only one promoting a particular product or service.

In order to get ahead of the competition and make sales, you’re going to have to stand out. This involves being unique from other promoters and providing value to potential customers. Here are two steps I recommend you take in order to stick out and be different.

  1. Start a blog – Blogging is a great way to set yourself apart from the crowd, be unique and build relationships. Relationship building is what’s going to help you earn trust from potential customers and ultimately make money. Blogging also allows you to be seen as an expert in your field, which will help build authority for you and the products you recommend.
  2. Build a list – Along with blogging, list building is another way in which you can build authority and trust among potential customers. It’s important to keep in mind that you want to provide value to your subscribers. Gain their trust first before you promote to them. Once you have their trust, they’ll be more likely to check out the products and services you recommend to them.

Following these steps will ensure that you make money with affiliate marketing and stand out from the competition.

Start an Online Business Using Skills You Already Have

Starting a business used to require a lot of work and time. You needed working capital, real estate, inventory, licenses and other necessary legal documents before you could begin doing business. Because of this, many people who had ideas and dreams never got that far. They were forced to continue slaving away for someone else.

The internet has changed everything, and people with ideas are now benefiting greatly from it. As long as you have a computer and access to the internet, you can do business online. Of course, you’ll need an idea to start with, otherwise there’s no point. You want a strong idea and plan to follow.

Thanks to the internet, putting your plan into action can be done rather quickly with results coming in as little as days, not weeks or months compared to a traditional offline business. If you have some money to spare you can do some advertising, but this isn’t necessary.

The idea is to take your skills and create a website that offers services around your skill set. Advertise and promote your new business wherever possible. You want to get your name out there and be seen as an expert. Build trust, and you’ll bring in new customers rather quickly.

Starting an online business doesn’t have to be difficult when you have an idea and a set of skills. The hard part will be putting those ideas into action and setting yourself in front of potential customers. However, the internet has made this easier than ever.

Selling on the Internet

No longer is a business restricted to a brick and mortar store hoping that people will see it, be interested and walk in. A business like this needs to be able to have a lot of inventory on hand, employees, and someone always there during store hours.

Selling anything in this capacity would take weeks and even months of hard work and grueling hours. The chance of success is dependent on many factors, and the money invested can be great. There’s a lot of risk involved as well. However, thanks to the internet, your business can go global in a matter of a day at most.

When it comes to an offline business, the location is vitally important to the success of the business, among other factors mentioned already. An online business requires very little investment, no employees and can be ran in the comfort of your own home. Your customers can literally be anyone from around the world, all at reach thanks to the internet.

Thanks to advancements in technology, setting up a website, processing payments and shipping your product is now easier than ever. Even if you don’t want to start up a website, you can start selling on eBay and use PayPal to process your payments. There’s really no initial investment, and you can earn money very quickly.

With an online business, you can do business at any time of the day at your convenience. Many of the worries of starting a business is now eliminated thanks to the internet.

Make More Money with Your Business

No matter where you are in the world, the internet has allowed people to reach a much wider audience. You can sell to people half way across the world without having to pick up the phone or mail a letter. Just log on the internet, and the world is at your fingertips.

Years ago none of this would have been possible. The opportunity to do business with people outside of your country would have taken an enormous amount of time not to mention rather tricky. No doubt this turned a lot of people away from the idea.

However, thanks to the internet, you can sell and ship goods almost instantly to anywhere in the world. Also, making money now becomes easier and faster as well. You no longer have to wait for a check to arrive in the mail. Thanks to online payment processors, payment is instant, and your money is available right away.

Because of the advantages the internet provides, many people have turned to doing business online. The thought of making money quickly and at the click of a mouse has created many new internet businesses. Many businesses only do business on the internet because it is so much quicker and easier to get started and making money. The cost for starting an internet business is very minimal and is nothing compared to a traditional offline business.

The internet has allowed businesses to make money faster and easier than ever before. Whether you own an offline business and want to take it to the internet, or you’re interested in starting an internet business, there’s no better time than right now. The world is literally at your fingertips. You now have the potential to make more money and make it faster.

Starting Your Own Business

Launching a business career is now easier than ever. You no longer need a lot of capital, if any, to get started. It’s as easy as setting up a website instead of obtaining retail property and setting up an actual offline business. The advantage of a website is that you can be in business as soon as the site goes live. All you need is an idea to go with, and you can be in business. This won’t require any capital as the cost of website hosting is very affordable these days. However, you can still gain funding for your business, but you’ll still have to go through the same trouble if you were starting an offline business.

There’s a lot of misconception that you have to be really smart or “know the ropes” in order to setup a website and make money online. While it does take some learning, literally anyone can get started without much initial knowledge. Sites like LiveJournal.com started the blogging boom, but Blogger and WordPress have taken everything a step further and have made blogs very customizable, allowing you to create a multiple page website without much effort.

When setting up your website, create a page that contains information about the services you offer. Another page may contain the pricing options for your services, and a third page may have testimonials from satisfied customers. This can all be achieved rather quickly and have you servicing the internet within hours, not days.

The only thing left to do at that point is put all of your effort into marketing your website and getting yourself out there for everyone to see.

Make Money with Freelancing

Freelancing is when someone is self-employed and pursues a career that doesn’t involve an employer. The person gains skills and experience in a specific area of interest and then offers their services to others in that related field.

Freelancing was a lot different before the age of the internet. Before the internet, a freelancer would have to have had a lot of mobility or great phone service. In either case, being a freelancer required a ton of energy to pitch sales to potential clients and customers. You would also have to deal with being told “no” to your face or over the phone, whichever the case may be.

Keep in mind that freelancing leaves a lot in question. You can sell yourself all you want, but you may get rejected every time. And, there’s no way that you’ll get a “yes” every time, either. However, the internet does make freelancing a little easier. While there are no guarantees that anyone will take you up on your offers, the internet provides outlets to aide freelancers.

There are websites the allow freelancers to pitch to potential clients for specific jobs, and some websites even offer a job search function to match your skills with job listings. You can set your own price and offer details about your services. The old days of going door-to-door are pretty much over thanks to the internet. Not to mention that the Internet provides a truly monumental research tool for the jobs that require a bit of extra knowledge. The internet is nothing less than a launch pad from which to set your career in motion.
